Sawley signboard

Located just outside the City of Nottingham and sitting nicely on the borders of three shires - Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire - Sawley is honoured to be recognised as probably the UK’s largest inland waterway marina. As you arrive and swing into the extensive car park, you will feel that tinge of excitement so familiar to all of our guests. Your adventure is about to begin.

Sawley Marina and your “dream holiday home on the water” are destined to play the starring roles as you enjoy many long years of unforgettable experiences with Canaltime-at-Sawley Marina

Crafted and built in the North of England, highly skilled artisans blend traditional methods and modern materials to create the now famous Canaltime-at-Sawley Marina narrowboat. With its strong emphasis on light and space, the carefully considered design and layout combines the experience of Canaltime-at- Sawley and the fantastic feedback derived from our existing members and guests. This formula has created a superbly appointed and truly comfortable boat come rain or shine - the perfect vehicle for your great escape.

The atmosphere is one of thrilled anticipation coupled with freedom and reassurance when living your holiday time along the fascinating waterways of England. All aboard your holiday home! Once you have mastered the basic techniques and are fully aware of “how it all works”, ably shown to you by a member of the friendly Canaltime-at-Sawley staff, you are truly masters of your own destiny.

Cruise along the Trent & Mersey Canal or the Erewash and you’ve so much to do and to see. The choice is immense.

The Canal Map, thoughtfully provided as part of the Boat Manual, will soon become your close friend and guide. Bridges, locks, stately homes, industrial heritage, pubs, villages, country towns, castles, museums, cities . . . . . . . the canals have it all and will take you there along routes about which you have only ever dreamed.

There is a surprise around every corner. .

You may wish to use the marina as a base or mix and match land based exploration with some cruising. You are welcome! You choose what best suits your holiday needs. Bring your favourite CDs and DVD's. Canalside pubs are great places to eat and relax while downing a refreshing glass of good ale. If you prefer your own cooking, there is a grill, oven, four burner hob and even a microwave.

Expect a warm welcome from the friendly Canaltime-at-Sawley staff. Their knowledge and advice will be invaluable and they’ll patiently teach you all that they are able about “captaining your ship”. Set out on your cruise brimming with excitement and confidence. Canaltime-at-Sawley narrowboats are instantly recognised on the waterways with their winning combination of friendly colours and happy holiday crew. With such great ambassadors, we are all justifiably proud of the high levels of satisfaction enjoyed by members and exchangees alike.
